I so agree with you. I so hate fragmentation in the open source community. Because fragmentation is the strongest weapon proprietary software giants have against the open source community.

Right, I doubt that PHP is threatened by proprietary software these days but I see your point.

Anyway, I think for a while Facebook Hack will continued to be a project on its own and I hope at least some of its features will be adopted by the official PHP in the next times.
